I proudly grew up in Apex, North Carolina. I’m now a sophomore at UNC-Chapel Hill in the Hussman School of Journalism and Media pursing B.A. degrees in Journalism (Broadcast) and Political Science (American Politics).

As a Communications student worker, I write articles and produce social media content for UNC Information Technology Services. I’ve trained with an expert team of journalists to hone my writing skills and spotlight the work done by the department.

Experience

My passions

I watch the news for fun. I take pride in being politically informed, and apply my passion for politics as Secretary of the UNC Young Democrats Club, which is composed of over 600 members. In my role, I manage the club’s social media platforms, website, and internal and external communications. Outside of the club, I’ve volunteered for the Harris-Walz campaign and Progressive Turnout Project, and exit polled for Edison Research.

The amount of citizens that are disengaged from politics scares me— that’s why I’m working to make a change. As a Student Campaign Team Member and Apex Project Leader for The Civic Media & Digital Democracy, my goal is to gauge why the disconnect is happening. I facilitate focus group discussions with civic-minded communities across Wake and Orange County in preparation for testing a non-binding, civic voting mobile app.
